This may seem a familiar problem to some, especially those just starting out in the sign & print trade. It may be even classed as normal as it happens all the time. The following 2 steps however are very simple ways that can help prevent this from happening and save you a lot of time when weeding your vinyl graphics.
Cutting too deep
The plotter blade shouldn’t cut anything other than the vinyl, so if its cutting the backing paper, your cutting too deep, raise the blade until the blade is only cutting the vinyl. You will now be able to weed your graphics in half the time…
Using a low tac application tape
You may be using a low tac application paper which has its uses, but it might not be the right one for your applications, especially if it consistently isn’t pulling your vinyl graphics away from the backing paper. This can be quite frustrating and time consuming so why not try a higher tac application tape.
